¡Te pases de verga!

If you don't know, verga means dick or cock.  Take your pick, either way it's a vulgar way of referring to the male genitalia.

Me encanta la verga
I love dick

Dame tu verga papi
Give me your dick baby

The word verga is even more versatile than that.  There are a few expressions that use the word verga.

Vete a la verga
Fuck off / Go fuck yourself

Me vale verga
I don't give a fuck

And of course today's expression:

Atrevete a ser diferente, pero no te pases de verga
Dare to be different, but don't go fucking overboard

Notice his boots.  Those are called botas picudas, a trademark of musica tribal, which to my knowledge is primarily, if not only, a Mexican thing.

Let's talk about another word, vergazo.  What is a vergazo you ask?

The word vergazo also comes from verga, and has both a sexual and non-sexual meaning.  Let's start with the sexual meaning.

Oye chica linda, voy a darte un vergazo
Hey pretty girl, I'm going to dick-slap you

There it is, you now know how to tell someone you're going to dick-slap them in Spanish.  You should feel a sense of pride coming over you now.

A vergazo is also a really hard hit, like a serious knockout.   You can also use the expression "darte un vergazo" to tell someone you're about to kick their ass.

Vete a la verga puto o te voy a dar un vergazo wey, sigue de payaso
Fuck off faggot or I'm going to beat your fucking ass dude, keep acting like a clown

Let's look at some other ways to use vergazo.

¡Puta, que vergazo!
Fuck, what a fucking punch!

Although I translated vergazo as a punch, it can be any type of hit, like a car crash, or a big fall.  Any sort of high impact that makes you go daaaammmmn!

There are several other synonyms for vergazo, like coñazo, madrazo, golpazo, puñetazo, putazo and chingaso. All of them imply somebody got hit, but hard.  You may see them spelled with an s or z.  Which one is the correct spelling?  These are very informal words and in day-to-day speech nobody cares which version is correct, so forget about the little details and just have fun with these.

Lastly, here's a song called EL VERGAZO.  You're going to hear a lot of good stuff in this song and by good stuff I mean bad language.  You can read the lyrics here.  And if you can't see the video, here's the direct link: El Vergazo Grupo Marrano

This type of song is called a porno corrido.  I don't think the porno part needs much explanation, so let me tell you what a corrido is.  Think of a corrido as ballad, a song that tells a story.  Aside from porno corridos there are narco corridos, which are songs about drug dealers and drug trafficking.  There are probably other types of corridos, but in this blog we're only concerned about the "interesting" ones.

¡Puta madre!

¡Puta madre!

You probably already know puta means whore, or in some cases bitch, and  madre means mother.  Put them together and literally they translate to something like your whore of a mother.   Close, but no cigar.  At least not in this context.

In this case puta madre translates to "Fuck!"  And you use in exactly the same way you do in English.   You can also shorten it to just ¡puta!


Puta madre also works as an insult.

Good old Pikachu, who knew he even spoke Spanish?

Impactrueno tu puta madre
Thunderbolt your fucking mother

Vete a la chingada hijo de tu puta madre
Go fuck yourself you son of a bitch

¡Tu puta madre!
Fuck you

You may have noticed some of those are not exact translations.  That's because translation is far from an exact science, especially since everything doesn't have an exact translation. It's the spirit of the expression we need to capture.

Surprisingly, if you make a slight change puta madre can actually take on a positive meaning.

La chica está de puta madre 
The girl is fucking hot

Notice the addition of the "de".  That de changes everything.  While it's still rude, puta madre is now a way of saying something is great.  Here's a few more examples.


La chica es de puta madre
She's really fucking great (personality)

Esta casa es de puta madre
This house is fucking great

Como estuvo la pelicula? ¡De puta madre! 
How was the movie?  Fucking great!

Como te fue en la fiesta? Me fue de la puta madre
How was the party?  I had a great fucking time

Te gusta la comida? La comida está de puta madre
Do you like the food?  The food is fucking great.

You get the idea.

Golfa refers to a woman, but not just any woman, but the kind of woman who likes to sleep around.  The word in English is slut.

Let's translate todays phrase.

You don't know what a slut she is

Here's a short video so you can hear this word in action.  Be sure to listen for our phrase in the video.

You've just been introduced to La Famila del Barrio.  When in comes to bad language, these guys rock, especially if you're interested in Mexican Spanish.  You'll notice in the video golfa is translated as whore, and while slut and whore are sometimes used interchangeably depending on the context, I think slut is more accurate.

Here's another example:

¿Viste esa chava?  ¡Es golfa!
Did you see that girl?  She's a slut.

Before I forget, golfa is Mexican Spanish.  The standard Spanish word is zorra.

Teresa es una zorra, anda con uno y con otro
Theresa is a slut, she goes around with one guy after another

La hermana de Diego es muy zorra
Diego's sister is a real slut

There's also golfo, which is a guy who sleeps around a lot.

No seas ojete

If you look up ojete in the dictionary, it means "eyelet".  Well, that's one of the definitions anyway.  And unless you have a really good dictionary, it probably left a few things out.

Ojete  is also a vulgar word for ano, or anus.  In English we would say asshole.  This is where today's sentence comes in. 

No seas ojete
Don't be an asshole

And like always, there's more than one way to skin a cat.  Or in this case call someone an asshole.

 Some other good options are  "pendejo", "cabrón", "culero" and in Spain "gilipollas".  These are all  probably understood by most Spanish speakers, but remember each country might have it's own words for these things.

 The good news is the fun doesn't stop here.  Ojete can also be used as a synonym for culo.   Let's look at a few examples.

Se puso tan cachonda que hasta me dejo darla por el ojete
She got so horny she even let me give it to her in the ass

Una web dedicada exclusivamente al mejor porno hardcore por el ojete
A web site dedicated exclusively to the best hardcore anal sex

Le rompen el ojete
They gave it to her in the ass

Este tío es un hijoputa

Hijoputa is actually a short version of hijo de puta. 

And to get straight to the point, it translates to son of a bitch.  And the really good news is you can use it for women too with just a small change - hija de puta.  While hija de puta doesn't exactly translate to son of a bitch, I think you get the idea. 

Hijo de puta is universal, you can insult people from all over the Spanish speaking world with this.  But if you happen to be in Mexico, you have another option.

Hijo (hija) de la chingada

It conveys the same meaning, son of a bitch.  It's just Mexico's version.   Here's an example:

Sabes, siempre has sido un hijo de la chingada
You know, you've always been a son of a bitch

Let's take a look at our phrase, which should be pretty clear by now.

Este tío es un hijoputa. 
This guy is a son of a bitch

¡Soy cabrona!

Cabrón, or cabrona for a woman, is a word you're definitely going to want to have a good handle on.  And like most bad words, it can mean different things in different contexts.

To start with, as an insult it's equivalent to calling someone a dick,  asshole, or bastard.  Let's take a look a few examples:

Me cae mal ese pinche cabrón
I don't like that fucking bastard

No seas cabrón
Don't be an asshole

Que cabrón eres
You're a real asshole

I think you get the point.  You can also use the word cabrón to talk about things in a positive light:

¿Te gusta el hotel?
Esta cabrón guey

Do you like the hotel?
It's the shit dude

You can use cabrón to talk about difficult situations or when something is just hard to deal with:


El calor está tan cabrón
This heat is fucking unbearable

La situación en Haití está bien cabrón 
The situation is Haiti is really fucking bad

You can use it as a greeting:

¿Qué onda cabrón?

Make sure you're really good friends with someone before you use this.

Lastly, you can use cabrón or cabrona to say someone is really good at something.

Mi vecino está cabrón con los computadores
My neighbor is really fucking good with computers

Soy cabróna
I'm the shit

Ya.  Considered yourself armed, dangerous and well equipped to use cabrón in the wild!  But as always, ten cuidado with these expressions.

¡Chinga tu madre!

This is another staple of Mexican Spanish.

In English we have "Fuck You", which is possibly the strongest insult in English.  But in Spanish...

¡Chinga tu madre!

Is quite possibly the top dog of insults.  It's certainly up there, so you've been warned.  Also take note that if you're the recipient of this, you've made someone very, very angry.

You see, in Mexican Spanish, insults involving the word "madre" are pretty damn strong.   It's like someone tossing in the F word while cussing you out in English.  They aren't just mad, they're furious.  And if you aren't familiar with the phrase the "F word", that's a polite way of referring to the word "Fuck" which is definitely the strongest swear word in the English language.  At least in American English.

You can also say "chíngate", which would be more of an equivalent to "Fuck you" in English, but in Mexican Spanish, when you seriously want to insult someone, best to go with...

¡Chinga tu madre!

Well, this one is short and sweet. As always, be careful with anything you learn on this blog, whether you're translating from English to Spanish  or vice-versa.

¡Vete a la chingada!

You're going to see the phrase "a la chingada" a lot as we talk about more mala palabras de México.  

Remember, everything you'll learn on this blog is going to be rude and not for polite company.  And "vete a la chingada" is no exception.  In fact, this is pretty damn strong.  And that's an understatement.

It basically means "go to hell" but with the intensity of "go fuck yourself".  

This phrase really doesn't require much explanation on how to use it.  Anytime you feel the need to tell someone off, this is a good choice.  And if it's directed at you, you've made someone pretty angry. 

Many people speculate over exactly where "la chingada" is.  Well it turns it was quite easy to solve that mystery with Google at my side.  When someone tells you to go the "la chingada", you can consider booking your next vacation at  La Chingada.

Ok, that link actual leads to page that makes fun of the phrase "a la chingada".  But I'm sure you'll figure that out as soon as you read the page.   

I encourage you ¡Vete a la chingada! for a few laughs and learn a little bit more about chingar and la chingada, and ten cuidado (be careful)  with this phrase.

Pinche idiota

Pinche is one of those words I like to call a "sentence enhacer".  It puts extra emphasis on the subject matter at hand.

If you've been studying Spanish for a while, you've likely heard the word pinche.  Especially if you've been in any type of social setting where people start letting their hair down.  A few chelas bien fría (nice cold beers) and all of sudden the Spanish language starts getting a little more colorful.  Although some people don't need beer for that. 

So what does "pinche" mean?  It's somewhere between damn, god-damn and fucking in English, depending on who you ask.  But my understanding is that it's closer to "fucking".  Either way, we don't really need an exact translation, what we do need to know is that "pinche" is a pretty strong word, so it's not for polite company.

Let's look at our example sentence:

Pinche idiota
Fucking idiot

Sure, calling someone an idiota is a pretty good insulto (insult), but when you throw in our sentence enhancer, pinche, now you're getting serious! 

Let's try a few more:

Ese pinche carro es una porquería
That fucking car is a piece of junk

Me cae mal ese pinche cabrón
I don't like that fucking asshole

You can throw in pinche just about anywhere:

Pinche pendejo
Fucking dumbass

Pinche taxi
Fucking taxi

Pinche viejo
Fucking old man

In fact, I actually heard someone use "pinche vieja" in a restaurant one day, it gave me a good chuckle.
